Medical Negligence Claims Against Kuldeep Stohr

Were you or your child treated by Kuldeep Stohr at Addenbrooke’s Hospital?

If you or your child underwent an orthopaedic operation performed by Kuldeep Stohr at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, you may be entitled to seek specialist legal advice about the treatment you received.

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has commissioned an extensive independent review into Ms Stohr’s clinical practice after concerns were raised about the outcomes of treatment.

The Trust has confirmed that Ms Stohr, a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon specialising in children’s surgery, had her clinical practice restricted in 2024 and was subsequently suspended.

Concerns about treatment provided by Kuldeep Stohr

An initial external review examined a number of paediatric orthopaedic cases and identified patients whose treatment was found to have been below the standard expected by the Trust.

The review was subsequently significantly expanded. The current retrospective clinical review covers a much larger number of procedures, including planned operations as well as emergency orthopaedic cases involving children and adults. The Trust says the review is expected to conclude in Autumn 2026.

An independent investigation by Verita, examining whether concerns about Ms Stohr’s practice could have been identified and addressed sooner, was completed in 2025. The investigation identified 32 missed opportunities within the Trust between 2012 and 2024.

Have you been contacted about your treatment?

Cambridge University Hospitals has been contacting patients and families whose treatment falls within the review.

However, you do not necessarily have to wait for the full clinical review to finish before obtaining independent legal advice.

A medical negligence solicitor can examine your individual circumstances, obtain the relevant medical records and, where appropriate, arrange an independent medical assessment.

What could a claim involve?

Every case will be different. Potential issues may include:

  • complications following orthopaedic surgery
  • further surgery being required
  • an operation not achieving its intended outcome
  • incorrect or inappropriate surgical treatment
  • delayed diagnosis or treatment
  • continuing pain or restricted movement
  • mobility problems
  • the need for corrective surgery
  • psychological or emotional consequences
  • ongoing care and rehabilitation requirements.

Whether treatment amounted to clinical negligence will depend on the individual medical evidence and the circumstances of the particular case.

Important update

The independent clinical review into Ms Stohr’s practice remains ongoing. Cambridge University Hospitals says that the review of individual patients is separate from the Verita investigation into the Trust’s handling of concerns about her practice. The Trust currently expects the wider clinical review to conclude in Autumn 2026
